Postal Saving Bank Vienna - 1902 designed and manufactured 1904 / 1906 by Jacob Josef Kohn. The chair shows a perforated seat from plywood while the other parts made from curved beech and stained in chocolate brown. Underneath the seat is the company name Kohn visible. Otto Wagner ( Vienna 1841 - 1918 Vienna) one of the most popular master of modern architecture in Belle Epoque fin de siecle period in Vienna He was architect, visionary, city planner and professor with many famed pupils as Josef Maria Olbrich, Josef Hoffmann, Kolo Moser, Josef Plecnik, Otto Schönthal, Karl Ehn and so many more, just to name a few. This model of the chairs were designed for the office space from the Postal Saving Bank - Österreichische Postsparkasse previously K.K. Postsparkassenamt in Vienna. This beautiful building and masterpiece of the Modern Architecture was designed and furnished by Otto Wagner and manufactured by Thonet as well as Jacob Josef Kohn. Both furniture makers were world leaders in making bentwood furnitures. The Viennese design furniture pieces from this era are an exciting tete a tete with material and utility.
