Achille (1918-2002) y Pier Giacomo Castiglioni (1913-1968) were leading figures in 20th century Italian design, trained at the Politecnico di Milano and known for their experimental and functional approach. Their collaboration with Dino Gavina in the 1950s gave rise to innovative and iconic pieces. Together with Gavina, they helped to position Italian design as an international benchmark of modern industrial design.
