About the Item

The fauteuil à la Reine seen here is a perfect example of this Louis XVI style. This particular style of Louis XVI always featured a medallion-shaped back and fluted legs. This armchair seen here was hand-carved in France circa 1890. The oval-shaped back is finely carved and upholstered in an antique damask fabric that has been affixed to the chair back, seat, and manchettes. The incurved arms have foliate armrests that curl into volutes. Each of the similarly shaped arm stumps is adorned with acanthus leaf decoration. Our French Louis XVI-style fauteuil a la Reine armchair is well-proportioned with a spacious seating area. The antique damask complements the simple yet elegant shape and allows it to be used with various interiors.
