About the Item

“Luna” is a completely handmade chair, designed by the artistic collective Casa Antillón and made with a solid natural maple wood structure.‎ BIO: Casa Antillón is an art, design and architecture collective founded in Madrid in 2019 and formed by Marta Ochoa, Ismael López, Yosi Negrín and Emmanuel Álvarez, four architects graduated from ETSAM, at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. His practice explores different cultural territories, from the curating of emerging art to the spatial construction of architecture. In this sense, beyond the scale of the project, their works always share experimentation, through research or testing, and imagination, which tests our limits. As an architecture and design studio, they flow between various artistic areas, with a certain desire for the lack of definition of formats and disciplines. His most notable works are the functional art collections: “Domestic Fictions” (2021) and “UnderBlue” (2022) and architecture projects “MOOD Hair Salon” (2021) and “CARA MELA” (2022). They have participated in conferences and workshops at the UPM, CCCBarcelona, TAI School and teach classes at IED Madrid.

Cadeira Chair by Macheia
Located in Geneve, CH
Cadeira Chair by Macheia Handmade In Portugal. Dimensions: D 45 x W 45 x H 88 cm. Materials: Natural dried bulrush and galvanized iron. The chair’s concept is rooted in the notion that every spiral starts around a hand. The hole, the imprint of the creator’s hand, is here highlighted by the organically shaped metal back, pointing out where the chair begins. The rhythm of the metal elements of the chair is set by the stitches from the technique. The technique is seen through a new lens, raw and exposed, bringing it closer to its identity as a plant. The Collection zooms in the Bunho technique - a unique portuguese basketry technique that shapes the natural fiber Bulrush (Schoenoplectrus Palla), into a intricate mesh of knots and stitches. Nowadays, the Bunho technique is kept by the hands and know-how of only two artisans in Europe, One of them is Manuel Ferreira...
