About the Item

A fine pair of antique French Restauration Period, carved mahogany His Hers side chairs, circa 1820. This wonderful pair of antique French side chairs date to the Restauration period of France (1814-1830), when Napoleon I abdicated the Bourbon monarchary was restored Louis XVIII became king. This pair of His Hers side chairs are finely carved to the seat backsplats with a Greco-Roman head, one female, the other male and enclosed in a carved laurel wreath cartouche carved garlands rosettes. Above the backsplats each chair has an aperture to place the hand through to lift or move the chair with ease. The seats have just been professionally re-upholstered with a vintage Pendleton Woolen Mills Southwestern style fabric. The chair fronts are decorated with Neoclassical carved motifs and are raised on gently tapered baluster legs to the front 'sabre' shaped legs to the rear. The chairs were professionally repolished in Bloomsbury Fine Art Antique's workshops. The chairs are very stable robust and incredibly comfortable, condition is excellent, this very stylish pair of antique His Hers chairs are ready to grace your home or office.
