About the Item
Pair Antique Liegoise Louis XIV Style side chairs were hand-crafted by the master artisans of Liege, where fine quality furniture has been produced for centuries! Using dense, old-growth oak, the craftsmen sculpted the seatback for ergonomic support with vertical slats which most agree are much more comfortable than horizontal slat designs. The top is a triple arch design, with carved basket bursting with flowers flanked by acanthus plumes. Upturned foliates and scrolls mirror the crown at the base of the seat's backs, leading the eye to the hand-embroidered silk seats which add a touch of color and elegance to the entire design. The sturdy framework below includes an undulating apron with the front legs elegantly scrolled and carved with shell and foliate motifs centered on the apron, and on the shoulders and leg tips, finished with cloven hoof feet.
