About the Item
Pair of English armchairs, Edwardian period, late 19th/early 20th century, Chippendale style.
The armchairs feature a beautifully molded and well-proportioned beech frame. The front legs are cabriole-shaped and end in the characteristic pad feet of the style; the apron is molded, and the armrests have a lively line with softened ends. The openwork backrest is decorated with an "X" latticework motif punctuated with lozenges and highlighted by the curved lower crossbar, which reinforces the elegance of the ensemble.
The comfortable seats are upholstered in mustard yellow velvet, whose warm hue highlights the patina of the wood. This is a carefully crafted, stable, and decorative English work, representative of the Chippendale revival during the Edwardian period.
