A pair of late Baroque Swedish chairs, origin: Sweden, circa 1750 -1760, reupholstered in linen sateen fabric from Rogers
Goffigon, the wood stained to resemble walnut.
The form of these chairs, including their narrow back splat surmounted by a shell-form chest below a yoke-form scroll, reflect English Baroque and Carolean influences (from the time Charles II and his exiled court spent in Holland), and have a charming simplicity.
