About the Item

Extremely rare pair of children’s chairs designed by Jean‑Louis Avril in the 1970s, part of his iconic and avant‑garde series of cardboard furniture. Made of laminated and lacquered cardboard, these playful cylindrical forms feature organic curves and circular cut‑outs, turning an everyday material into bold, architectural design. Original yellow lacquer with beautiful patina. Some age-related wear with minor paint losses and imperfections to the lacquer and seat surfaces, consistent with use and adding to their authentic vintage charm. Highly collectible and very hard to find on the market, these chairs embody the radical French design spirit of the 1970s.
