About the Item

Philippe Starck (b. 1949) Pair of Von Vogelsang armchairs, ca. 1985 Driade edition, Italy Base and armrests in patinated steel tubing, seat in perforated steel sheet The pair features a raw surface finish and exceptional patina. H. 70 x W. 52 x D. 40 in. H. 27 1/2 x W. 20 1/2 x D. 15 3/4 in. This piece designed by Philippe Starck and made by Driade is one of the most iconic design by the French designer. This is no secret that Starck was inspired by science fiction at the beginning of his career and this piece was used as a stage design for Star Trek and Total Recall by Paul Verhoeven. The chair was used with a Starck table in the restaurant of the Planet Mars Hyatt hotel in the iconic movie from 1990.
