About the Item

A exceptional example of mid-century French design, this rare tulip chair was created by Pierre Guariche for Steiner and produced in fiberglass in the late 1950s. Guariche was known for his forward-thinking use of modern materials, and this sculptural form showcases his mastery of proportion, comfort, and elegance. The single-shell fiberglass seat features the original clean, organic silhouette with a gently curved backrest that flows seamlessly into the base. Its crisp tulip form gives it a refined presence from every angle, making it as much a collectible object as a functional chair. In excellent vintage condition with a beautiful patina consistent with age, this piece is a striking addition to any design-forward interior. Rarely seen on the market, it’s ideal for discerning collectors of French modernism and iconic 20th-century furniture. A standout statement piece—both sculptural and historically important.
