About the Item
The Sculpting Archetypes Dining Chair is part of a project created for the
historic Villa Borsani. The designer presents her admiration for diverse
materials and textures, ranging from rough to smooth surfaces. This collection
combines never-before-seen works with earlier creations, all inspired by
sculptural and architectural elements.
‘Sculpting Archetypes’ reflects on the origin of an object and strengthens
the core of Linde Freya’s practice, in the search for contemporary archetypes
that are pronounced in character and revealing the layering of the process.
Each work embraces a simplicity and rawness, carried out in carved deep
lacquered wood, coinciding in its raw but delicate gesture – within the layers,
both in material and thought.
Sculpting Archetypes was part of the performance Exhibition "The Theater of Things" the show transformed the gallery into a domestic stage — an ever-evolving space shaped by the creative voices of seven designers. Each night, one of them slept in the space. Each morning, a journalist, curator, or critic joined for coffee and conversation — exploring what it means to live among collectible pieces.
Inspired by radical gestures like Gianni Pettena’s La Casa all’Elba and Joseph Beuys’ Coyote performance, the exhibition is both lived experience and open dialogue.
