About the Item

A fine set of four Biedermeier walnut shovel chairs, crafted in Hungary around 1825. Each chair features the characteristic wide, curved “shovel” backrest in beautifully grained walnut, reflecting the refined elegance of the Biedermeier period. The drop-in seats have been newly upholstered with striped fabric in black and gold, offering both comfort and a striking visual contrast. The cushions are removable, allowing for easy future reupholstery. One of the four chairs is distinguished by additional inlaid decoration in the apron and backrest, while otherwise identical in form and production. The chairs are of high quality, stable and heavy, with excellent seating comfort. Restored, hand-polished and in very good condition, they are ready for daily use or sophisticated interiors.
