About the Item

Hand crafted excellence in a sublime expression of unique character and attention to detail within a functional work of art. A really good sculptural dining chair is an exacting challenge to create. There is a high performance criteria for the intended usage. Where to start? A dining chair is not a static object and it is generally part of a grouping of multiples working in unison with a larger flat surfaced structure. The silhouette forms should be strong with a subtle sense of dynamism without upstaging or hindering the view to the table they are pulled up to. The chair starts with the person, sitter, occupant - together with the form they become the piece that elevates the conversation and magnificence of the table. The seated experience is comfortable, poised, elegant. The form of course remains - a fluid, organic exercise in understated elegance. The space between things fills the whole experience. So what stories will you tell at the table? Images here show the Vennaxa chair carved in oak wood with a rich deep brown brushed surface and dark copper fabric upholstered seat base. The Vennaxa chair can also be created in alternative tonal finishes and textures from bleached off white through to charcoal black with a myriad of colour options and textures possible to for the upholstered seat base to harmonise with the intended emotive resonance at the desired location.
