A Pierre Decorse (b1953) organic sculptural elm armchair. Signed and dated 2001.
A striking example of functional art, this solid elm chair blends sculptural presence with refined minimalism. With fluid curves, rounded contours, and beautifully carved legs that split into branch‑like feet. The piece feels alive!
Hand‑crafted from a single piece of elm trunk, the chair reveals the wood’s true nature through its uninterrupted grain and naturally occurring openings. It is however very solid and sturdy, with no loose joints. It has a smooth, tactile finish. The chair offers both visual impact and everyday usability. Part functional seating, part living sculpture.
