Adjustable Armchair, Morris-Type Chaise Longue, Art Deco / Post-War Reconstruction Period, France, circa 1940
Elegant armchair convertible into a chaise longue, typical of French design from the Post-War Reconstruction era, in the spirit of Rene Gabriel or Antonin Heythum.
Crafted from solid beech wood, combining understated aesthetics with structural strength.
The adjustable backrest offers four reclining positions, supported by an aluminum mechanism and a chrome-plated brass bar.
The footrest / ottoman cleverly folds beneath the seat, allowing for a smooth transformation into a fully extended chaise longue.
Upholstered in skai, likely original, and in very good condition.
A highly comfortable piece that balances functionality and refined design.
A rare example of modular furniture with a utilitarian yet elegant style, emblematic of the revival of French design in the 1940s.
