About the Item
One piece of aluminium bronze forged creating a flat surface and base with forged hammer marks and coloured patina. Works as a stand-alone or in a pair.
After a few years of working with copper, I needed to overcome its limitations. I developed a recipe for bronze that was as strong and structural as steel, but also allowed for expressiveness and beauty like copper. My works are a result of my intuitive connection with the material, allowing me to work spontaneously without a planned outcome. The work dictates its own form.
I pour the bronze and begin working it while it is cooling. I wanted to make pieces that need only a few heats where I could work expressively and do repeats to develop a fluency in the technique .
Using traditional forging and toolmaking techniques, I create tools with a unique message. The message is discovered during the making process, and then I bring it out. The result is the prefect beautiful tool to carry its own unique message.
