About the Item

The D36 armchair was designed in the 1980s by Axel Bruchhäuser, a central figure at the German publisher Tecta. Deeply influenced by the great names of modernism, Bruchhäuser drew heavily on the structural explorations of Jean Prouvé for this model, defined by its taut, minimalist lines. Founded in 1956 and led by Bruchhäuser from the 1970s, Tecta became a key player in the reissue and reinterpretation of Bauhaus and Constructivist classics. The chair is built around a bent chrome-plated steel frame with an adjustable cantilevered base. The seat and backrest are made of woven synthetic cord, offering both flexibility and comfort. A fine example of late 20th-century German design, balancing homage and innovation. Manufacturer: Tecta, Germany, circa 1980
