About the Item

This early twentieth century French Louis XVI style painted wingback armchair or bergere includes its accompanying ottoman. The armchair features hand carved detailing of flowers at the crown, and acanthus leaves on the scrolled armrests. Rosettes at the die joints and a twisted ribbon motif additionally detail the frame of the armchair and ottoman. Each piece rests on classic tapered fluted legs. The armchair measures 42.5 inches high by 27.5 inches wide by 21.5 inches deep and the ottoman measures 18.5 inches high by 20 inches square. Painted in a pale creamy yellow and upholstered in a diamond pattern. circa 1920.
