About the Item

This is a classic mustache-style leather club chair from the first half of the 20th century. Likely created in the 1940s-1950s, this piece is an excellent, and somewhat unconventional, example of French craftsmanship. Sporting a wonderful deep, rich brown aniline leather treatment, the high back and slender silhouette is a departure from the typical style of the period. This chair has been internally restored and the aged leather stabilized. The seat leather has been expertly reupholstered with Moore Giles aniline leather. This is an antique leather chair, and as such, there is wear consistent with age. There are minor scratches and repaired tears, and the stabilized armrests have separation of the top grain. Leather is still soft and somewhat pliable, but this leather will need to be cared for.
