About the Item

Pair of Lounge Chairs in the Spirit of Carlo De Carli, Italy, 1950s Sculptural arms and splayed legs — Italian mid-century elegance drawn in a single sweeping line. This pair of lounge chairs channels the refined dynamism of Carlo De Carli, where seating becomes a play of curves and counterpoints. The profile is all about movement: a gently reclining, fully upholstered shell floats above a light timber frame, its seat and back merging into one continuous, enveloping gesture. From the side, the chairs reveal their most striking feature — sculptural, boomerang-like arms in solid wood that arc away from the body and reconnect at the rear, creating a graphic negative space between arm and seat. Below, slim splayed legs echo this diagonal energy, giving the chairs a poised, forward-leaning stance characteristic of De Carli’s most iconic designs. The warm, honey-toned wood contrasts with the soft patterned upholstery, which tempers the sharpness of the frame with a more tactile, domestic character. Generous yet visually light, these chairs are equally suited to a living room seating group or flanking a low table in a reading corner, where their silhouettes can be appreciated from every angle.
