A Fabulous French Leather Club Chair, Chapeau de Gendarme Model, Circa 1940’s This handsome and inviting chair is an absolute classic. With its overstuffed Cuban cigar arms, generous seat, and proportions it’s a great single chair. It has a deep rich Havana brown colour with a chestnut hue. It’s been really well looked after, although, on close inspection there are some faint cracks on the arm; we have deemed these as totally stable and do not detract from its tactile feel. There are no rips or previous repairs, and all the necessary seat and cushion work has been completed for your comfort. This iconic chair will look fabulous in any space. Good Luck, bonne chance! Even though our stock is quite consistent, finding original club chairs in a very good, original condition is a constant challenge. With our partners in France, we are always on the lookout and our chairs can be found anywhere from a local brocante to a chateau sale, from the north to the south of France. In our experience, nearly all the chairs will need attention to the springs, after all they're not just objects of beauty, they are to be used.
