About the Item
Pair of French Art Deco armchairs, with rounded armrests and a low, enveloping silhouette. Reupholstered in an off white cotton chenille blended with alpaca, a fabric that will develop a soft and elegant patina over time.
The original frames have been carefully preserved. The internal springs were kept and restored, and the seat’s original down filling has been supplemented with premium new down to regain its volume and comfort, ensuring a luxurious yet authentic feel.
These armchairs are not signed. Both Louis Sognot and René Drouet designed almost identical models during the early 1930s, sharing the same sculptural proportions and elegant characteristic. Without a maker’s mark or fully documented provenance, an exact attribution cannot be confirmed, yet the design clearly belongs to one of these two Parisian decorators.
Designed and made in France, circa 1930.
Provenance: Private Collection Paris.
