About the Item
An exceptional and fully original example of Ricardo Fasanello’s celebrated “Esfera” armchair, designed in the late 1960s and widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of Brazilian modern design. A model of bold sculptural presence, the Esfera seamlessly blends space-age form with Fasanello’s signature material experimentation.
The shell is crafted in fiberglass and polyester resin, paired with its original leather upholstery. Resting on a rotating base, the chair offers both visual impact and functional comfort - a piece that commands attention in any interior.
This is an authentic vintage example from the late 1960s and retains minor, expected wear to the fiberglass finish consistent with age. The chair is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Andreia Fasanello, ensuring its provenance and connection to the designer’s family archive.
Ricardo Fasanello (São Paulo, 1930–1993) was an influential figure in Brazilian modernism. Known for his inventive use of materials and refined sculptural language, he began designing and building boats as a teenager - an early passion that informed the aerodynamic forms and structural rigor found throughout his work. The Esfera remains one of his most iconic and sought-after creations.
