About the Item
This is an extremely well crafted club chair with a bronze base. It is rumored to have been used on a luxury railcar. This unique club has been upholstered in a dark charcoal nubuck leather. The base is a highly polished bronze and cut outs under the arms add interest. The chair is dated 1938 and labeled "Mandel Bros Chicago". Mandel Bros became one of Chicago's leading department stores. The company was founded in 1855 by Bavarian immigrants, Solomon Mandel and his uncle, Simon Klein. In 1865, after Solomon's brothers Leon and Emanuel joined the firm, its name became Mandel Bros. The company closed its doors in the 1970s after a number of declining business years. This is a great opportunity to own a piece of gorgeous history.
