About the Item

Pair of 19th century English Gainsborough chairs made from walnut. The frames are expertly hand carved with scrolls and acanthus leaves, with scalloping on the sides and front of the frame for added design interest. The legs in the front are slight cabriole, which end in padded scroll feet. The back legs are splayed for an elegant profile and greater stability, and end in a pad foot. The upholstery is lovely, but is not newly done.
