About the Item
Pair of French Art Deco Leather Club Chairs covered in a Faux Crocodile "Real Leather". Our inhouse Old Plank Upholstery Department could not save the original leather, for the family cat must have thought of it as their personal scratching post. Since we have in the past imported French Leather Club Chairs that were covered in Faux Crocodile and real Crocodile from the 1920’s, we thought why not. The Faux Crocodile Leather is extremely difficult to work with and each chair was completely stripped down and rebuilt from the wood frame up. We counted over 55-man hours of labor for each French Faux Crocodile Leather Club Chair and if you look closely, even the feet are covered in faux Crocodile Leather. We have a pair of real French Leather Crocodile Club Chairs listed on 1stdibs and it also has the feet covered in Crocodile Leather, which we think adds a nice detail. The padding we used is strictly old school, with only Horsehair, Shredded Coco Fibers and Wadded Wool used for padding. All of this hard labor would have been moot if they were not comfortable, but they are extremely comfortable and will last for generations to come.
