About the Item

An 18th century English George III Gainsborough library chair, the frame in carved mahogany of generous proportions with a serpentine back above shaped set back arms. The legs are square and splayed in the back supported with an H-shaped stretcher with fretwork and scroll detail on the front two legs with their original brass casters. The chair is presently upholstered in a contemporary decorated velvet. English, circa 1760-1770.
