About the Item

The Valette Chair is a contemporary interpretation of the classic French club chair, revived not to mimic the past, but to preserve its essence. The idea began, as many of ours do, with a vintage find. We purchased an original Art Deco chair unseen, planning a full restoration. But once the upholstery was stripped away, the truth revealed itself: the wooden frame was beyond saving, rotten to the core. That discovery marked the beginning of a new chapter. Rather than abandon the piece entirely, we decided to rebuild it from the ground up, honoring its proportions, silhouette, and spirit. The result is The Valette Chair: a refined homage to the 1930s French club tradition. Its low, sculptural frame rests on rounded natural oak legs, and it’s upholstered in a luminous wool velvet, woven in Europe from a sustainable blend of wool, cotton, and tencel. The tactile softness and visual depth make it both a comfort and a statement. Though Bruksmann is built on vintage originals, this chair is a rare exception, produced in limited numbers to ensure that a beautiful idea, almost lost to time, could be lived in once more.
