About the Item

This very beautiful chair was most likely produced in China for the English or Danish market, and exported via the East India Company. Unusual for work of this era, it still wears its very early leather seat cover. The carving bears warm traces of its original pigment and gilding. We are strong advocates of the unexpected thrill produced by a bit of Rococo splendor in a modern interior.
