About the Item

Cleopatra daybed by A.R. Cordemeyer combines sleek enameled metal with warm teak end caps and includes a new black mattress and cylindrical bolster. Developed in 1953 for Royal Auping, the design emerged as part of the streamlined bedroom aesthetic of Post War Dutch Modernism. The wider 1960s model features splayed legs in dark enameled metal, rounded teak ends, and minimal horizontal lines that defined the era's approach to functional living. The frame construction showcases the marriage of industrial materials with organic wood elements, creating visual warmth within a minimal form. The black upholstery provides contemporary contrast to the teak and metal framework. Well-preserved with minor wear consistent with age. New mattress and bolster included.
