The EÆ daybed in Horween leather with ebonized rosewood legs and blackened brass frame.
“I wanted to create something better than Mies van der Rohe,” says designer Ben Erickson of Erickson Aesthetics about his EAE daybed, which bears a striking resemblance to the midcentury talent’s Barcelona chaise. Rather than upholstering the Horween leather in tufts on the seat, Erickson opted for a ribbing effect. “I love the profile it provides and it’s a more contemporary way to upholster a piece,” adds Erickson. Other modernized elements? A subtle blackened brass finish and asymmetrically tapered legs.
