About the Item

An impressive (and long) Swedish Gustavian daybed from the 1790s. The bed frame is all hand carved with bell flower motifs and guilloche patterned carvings defining the graceful curvature of the arms. Pigmented in a dusty blue that has been lost and patinated to reveal the blonde wood underneath. Recently tightened and upholstered with new cushions and a muslin fabric, it is ready for its final layer of upholstery. The whole is lifted on Louis XVI style fluted and tapered legs.
