About the Item

These ten Helge Sibast No. 8 “Ox-Bow” dining chairs are rare embodiments of Danish Modern elegance—architectural, sculptural, and profoundly tactile in their presence. Designed by Sibast in 1953, this model became celebrated for its distinctive Y-shaped “compass” legs, gently floating seats, and molded backrests. The silhouette encapsulates the calm yet confident spirit of post-war Scandinavian design. Each chair is crafted from solid teak, its generous grain and warm patina brought fully to life through meticulous cleaning and oiling. The spindled backs demonstrate Sibast's mastery in woodworking and subtle ergonomics. The seats are newly covered in black faux-leather Scalamandré vinyl, a modern tribute that vividly contrasts against the teak’s amber glow, while offering durability and visual modernism. Dimensions (each chair): 21.5” wide × 21.5” deep × 28.13” high, with a seat height of 17.25”. Ten restored chairs, equally suited to grand dining presentations, modern curated interiors, or design collections where form, craftsmanship, and history intertwine. Only very minor imperfections remain on the teak frames.
