This is a magnificent set of four Venetian armchairs lacquered in blue with a fine polychrome little flowers decoration. Engraved and lacquered walnut.
A delicate and refined drawing of polychrome floral garlands on the blue background, enhances the sophisticated linear structure, accentuated by touches of gilding and all this makes these four blue lacquered armchairs unmistakable pieces of the most exquisite Venetian Rococo.
The set showcases a fine elegance and the exquisite craftmanships of the Venetian master cabinetmakers
These pieces can give grace and timeless beauty in every home.
Clara Santini, one of the most Venetian furniture 18th Century expert, said relating to this set: It is undoubtedly the result of extreme high level of craftsmanship, the harmonious alternation of curves and counter-curves, that describes the supports "en cabriol".
One of the distinctive characteristics of Venetian Baroque and Rococo furniture is the skilful use of lacquers. Lacquer is a natural resin that was very rare in the past, imported from the East and used to create smooth and colored surfaces on furniture, ready to be finely decorated with refined floral designs or exotic animals.
Venetian artisans became masters in lacquer processing which required time and patience because it was made with many steps.
The Venetian style deeply influenced furniture design throughout Europe, but none reached the Venetian level in terms of beauty. The skillful use of lacquer and carvings defined Venice's unique style during the Rococo period, its Golden Age.
The pieces are in very good state of maintenance and they are guaranteed original in every parts. The surface was only cleaned not restored and it is original.
The set of wooden blue lacquered armchairs, has the Certificate of Authenticity. The documents will be shown on demand in case of interest.
The fabric silk upholstering is contemporary.
