19th Century Elegant Pretzel Shaped Thonet Dining Chairs – Set Of Four.
Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. This is a stunning set of late 19th century original Thonet chairs in a stunning design and shape with the most extraordinary steam bent supports and backs. The chairs have been gently refurbished in our own workshops and are in excellent condition. The chairs have some minor markings but no clear Thonet label so they may be Mundus or an early similar maker. Seat Height: 46cm

Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
