About the Item

Crafted in France circa 1880, this handsome set of antique dining chairs features four side chairs and two matching armchairs. Each chair is built from solid oak with a warm, rich patina and features a padded backrest and seat, upholstered in original hand-tacked brown leather. The backs of two side chairs are stenciled with a stylized Fleur-de-Lys, adding a touch of heraldic charm. Large brass nail-head trim secures the leather and provides a bold decorative border. The Louis XIII style chairs rest on sturdy turned legs connected by classic H-stretchers, ensuring strength and stability. The open armchairs are fitted with shaped scrolled arms for additional comfort. The leather shows beautiful natural wear consistent with age, contributing to the set’s character and authenticity. This well-preserved set would make an excellent addition to a breakfast or dining room, a wine cellar, pairing equally well with old refectory tables or rustic farmhouse trestle tables.
