About the Item
A black-brown, vintage Art Deco French pair of dining room chairs made of hand crafted polished Mahogany in the style of Jules Leleu, in good condition. The upholstered backrest of the Parisian armchairs is slightly inclined with slim, arched armrests, particularized with a scroll, standing on two conical front legs and slightly curved back wooden legs. Newly upholstered in a beige-grey cotton fabric and trimmed with black piping, circa 1920 - 1930, Paris, France.
Seat: 18.75" h x 19" w x 16" d
Jules Leleu was a French furniture designer and artist, born in 1883, in Boulogne-sur-Mer, northern France and passed away in 1961. Leleu started to study painting, to follow is his dad passion in art. After the Word War I, he focused in creating, designing furniture. In 1924, Leleu opened his own gallery in Paris. Later on, he participated at the Exposition Industrielle et Arts Decoratifs, where he won the grand prize.
