About the Item
Set of four richly patinated cognac leather and walnut dining chairs, attributed to Afra and Tobia Scarpa. These were produced in Italy during the 1960s. They feature cognac saddle leather upholstery and a walnut wood structure. They closely resemble Scarpa's Model 121 in form, material and construction. Though these chairs are without the cutout in the backrest that the 121 has, resulting in a more minimalist look.
Very good condition for the age with no structural degradation whatsoever. Chairs have been well cared for. The saddle leather is a patina leather and wears its age proudly and beautifully; a charactered yet clean look.
Afra (1937-2011)
Tobia (1935-) Scarpa both studied at the Venice Institute of Architecture. Tobia first worked for the Italian glass manufacturer Venini. From 1960 on, the couple opened their own design office. Their work includes architecture and everyday items like furniture and clothing. Tobia and Afra designed for numerous major Italian and international companies like Flos, Gavina, B&B Italia, Cassina, Knoll International, and many interior projects for numerous companies worldwide.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. Remarkable condition for the age. Chairs have been well cared for. Stunning rich cosmetic patina on the saddle leather, without any structural degradation. Wood has been re-oiled.
