Marvelous Mid-20th Century Scandinavian Modern set of 6 teak dining chairs by Uldum Mobelfabrik Attributed to Johannes Andersen with golden chenille fabric. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if they have been refinished or restored. These have been attributed based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature. Specifically, they have been shampooed but still retain some spots particularly the top edge of the seat backs. Fabric is useable but will eventually need reupholstered. They are priced accordingly. Time to elevate your dining experience!!! This is a set of 6 Scandinavian Modern dining chairs 2 arm and 4 side chairs by Uldum Mobelfabrik and attributed to Johannes Andersen, made in Denmark. They are comprised of lovely teak frames with clean lines including tapered square straight front legs, slightly flared back legs that double as the seat back sides and hold the slightly curved back seat cushion, lower back stretcher, and wonderful square seat cushions inside a square seat frame with a front apron. Both the back
seats are covered in a charming golden chenille fabric with a reddish-gold or copper-ish hue. The chenille wraps around the back in one direction, so the nap runs a different direction on each side creating a cool shadow effect. But (sigh!) the fabric has seen better days. It can certainly be used for a while although most will want to reupholster… which we never think of that as a negative aspect because we LOVE new fabrics… and think of the ENDLESS and FANTASTIC possibilities! My mother, who is an incredible retired interior designer, thought it would be fun to cover the seat cushion in one fabric and the back cushion in a contrasting fabric! WOW!!! That would be SPECTACULAR!! They are beautifully crafted, ergonomically pleasing, and highly functional. These chairs encapsulate the hallmark of quintessential Scandinavian Modern design and are sure to make a bold statement surrounding your dining table; however, you may want to consider our listings for matching Scandinavian Modern dining tables as we have several listed here that will compliment them nicely… check them out!! Johannes Andersen was born in 1903 in Aarhus, Denmark. During his younger life he worked as an apprentice cabinet maker and received his certification in 1922. He started his own architectural workshop in the 1930’s and created several pieces for Trensum, a Swedish furniture manufacturer. While working with Trensum he designed myriad coffee tables consisting of rosewood and teak and he launched the “Capri” sofa and sofa table series that would later become popular worldwide. Andersen’s work erupted over the 1950-1960’s and his coffee tables were being produced globally. He became renowned for his sophisticated use of high-quality woods and attention to the smallest details. He continued creating new designs until he turned 80 and at this time he closed his office. Mr. Andersen passed away in 1991, but his designs live on and are highly sought after today.
While the exact founding date is unclear, as the company’s history is not widely documented, Danish furniture manufacturer Uldum Mobelfabrik was based in Uldum, Jutland. They were a mid-century Danish furniture maker from the 1960’s, particularly known for its dining tables and chairs. Their furniture was often made from teak or rosewood and recognizable for their clean lines, simplicity, elegant design, and high-quality craftsmanship. Uldum Mobelfabrik has worked with many leading Scandinavian Modern designers including Johannes Andersen
Ilse Rix. Though the company has dissolved, their furniture is highly sought after today.

Fabulous set of five Mid-Century Modern Planner Group style #1534 dining chairs by Paul McCobb for Winchendon. Comprised of a dark walnut finished maple. They have been newly upholstered at some point in their recent past in a brown background fabric with chenille squiggly undulating lines in gold and turquoise or teal. Beautiful condition with age-appropriate wear as you would expect with vintage pieces. Two of the chair backs do have small nicks. One has been repaired. All chairs have been re-glued. We have used restore-a-finish on the original finish to bring back its original shine. Please see photos. Circa 1949-1964.
Simply Amazing!! What a fabulous set of five Mid-Century Modern dining chairs! They are part of the Planner Group for Winchendon designed by internationally known and revered designer Paul McCobb. They are style number 1534, and they are comprised of a beautiful maple frame with a dark walnut finish.
