About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning set of six late Victorian hand-carved oak dining chairs made in the Jacobean manor .
A set of six late Victorian dark oak high back dining chairs of Carolean design, including two armchairs, the shaped crest rails carved with oval cartouche flanked by lions, on fluted uprights, arm terminals carved with lions heads, seats upholstered in pink fabric , turned and fluted legs and H-pattern stretchers
As mentioned these are based on some earlier
Jacobean designs, the chairs are hand-carved from solid English oak. The arms of the chairs depict hound dogs, the backs are in the form of armorial crests, these chairs are grand signature statement pieces
Each chair has had the frame checked glued and clamped if loose, the frames are all nice and solid, the timber has been hand waxed and polished from top to bottom, there doesn't seem to be any losses, some join line timber splits from normal age but that's it.
