About the Item
Early set of 4 vintage Näyttely chairs by Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs in solid teak with natural leather braided back in original condition.
The Näyttely was commissioned by Finnish designer Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs in 1955 for Finnish embassies. A task with a lot of significance, because the chair had to not only give a good appearance, but also be representative of Finnish culture. Just like with the Rialto (see related products), Hiort af Ornäs has managed to elevate the essence of a strong and practical design into a refined object. The sharply sloping backrest of braided leather is an exhibition of refined craftsmanship and offers pleasant comfort.
Early pieces made by Huonekalu Mikko Nupponen in original condition with new upholstered seats.
Also available new upon order. Chair comes in various wood types and fabrics and leathers of choice. Also bespoke.
