Did someone say Chin Hua by Raymond K. Sobota?? Ummmmm….. YES, PLEASE!!! This exquisite set of 8 dining chairs comes with six side and two armchairs, and they are part of the original Chin Hua Collection designed by Raymond K. Sobota for Century Furniture in 1975. The entire Chin Hua collection was retired in 1998 after a 23-year successful run. So successful that Century Furniture reissued the collection in 2012. And it is no wonder they revived it. The Chin Hua Collection was one of Century’s most revered collections of all time. However, these gorgeous pieces are not part of the new collection and are only available vintage. Playing with the Hollywood Regency and Chinoiseries style Sobota designed these dining chairs beautifully. They have a sultry ebonized deep brown ash finish and the center splat on each chair has a lovely, incised motif. The frames are solid and durable with stretcher joined legs and base and the seats are upholstered in 2 different seat cushion fabrics. The 2 armchair seat cushions wear a gorgeous gold velvet fabric while the six side chairs wear a fantastic multicolored fabric bearing red, blue, and gold Asian patterns, motifs, horses, and warriors. The colors have a striking contrast, and they all look INCREDIBLE together to say the least!!!! Oh, just so you know… if you love these Chin Hua dining chairs but you need more than 8, we do have another set of 6 listed here for sale (with different seat cushion upholstery), if they’re still available… check them out!! This magnificent set of 8 Chin Hua dining chairs is going to look FANTASTIC surrounding your dining table and are sure to complete your family dining room with incomparable Chin Hua style! Or… if you want to get a little versatile, you could separate the armchairs and use them in another room and just use the six side chairs at your table. Just saying, you have options… and you can’t go wrong with Chin Hua!!! Raymond Karl Sobota (1914-2010) is an award-winning American furniture designer. He attended and obtained his degree in design from Kendall College of Art and Design in his native home of Grand Rapids, Michigan. After graduating in 1946 Sobota apprenticed with his namesake and uncle, a furniture designer as well, Karl Schmidt, who designed for Berkey and Gay Furniture Company. He apprenticed for seven years leading to his designing for Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Co., the Mt. Airy Furniture Co., Hekman Furniture and finally Century Furniture for whom he designed from 1952 until 1995. He designed all the company’s wood furniture during that time in total over 150 collections. The most notable being Citation, Chin Hua, Claridge, and the Henry Ford Museum and the British National Trust collections. Sobota is credited for helping to make Century Furniture the industry leader it is today. Century Furniture Company, one of the world’s largest privately owned upper-end residential furniture manufacturers, was founded in 1947 by Harley Ferguson Shuford, Sr. When first formed Century Furniture was a selling agent for local upholstery lines. But as soon as a year later Shuford had built a case goods plant in Hickory, North Carolina and that started it all. Harley Shuford along with his siblings and children acquired company after company expanding into upholstered furniture, chair manufacturing, and even a leather division. Century has made it through feast and famine in the furniture business and today retains their long-standing role as a leading force in the American home furnishings market. This set of 8 Chin Hua dining chairs by Raymond K. Sobota for Century Furniture is EXACTLY what the designer ordered!!! What are you waiting for?? You simply MUST make them YOURS!!! 4 Hollywood Regency Chinese Chippendale Style Black Accent Chairs by Thomasville
By Thomasville
Located in Topeka, KS
Fabulous vintage Hollywood Regency Chinoiserie Chinese Chippendale style Thomasville black low profile accent occasional chairs, set of 4. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all 4 chairs have natural, distressed edges from age & wear which we have enhanced giving them a gorgeous patinated look then added a fresh coat of lacquer. A couple of small holes in the vinyl have been repaired. They can be used as is, but most will want to reupholster. They are priced accordingly. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa 1971. You know, 1971 was a VERY good year… There were 3 partial solar eclipses AND there were TWO total lunar eclipses in the SAME year!!… The FIRST EVER Starbucks opened at the historic Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington… A movie ticket only cost $1.50… Oh ya… AND it’s the year I was BORN!! (Hmmmmm, those eclipses may explain a few things in my life!) LOL…Anyway, how privileged am I to share a birthday with these MARVELOUS occasional chairs by Thomasville!!! This is a set of four incredible Thomasville low profile occasional chairs in the style of James Mont covered in a deep black faux ebony finish bearing a naturally distressed all-over patina on their frames. They have wide, square seats wearing lovely black vinyl or faux leather fabric that is nice enough to use for a while but eventually you may want to reupholster. Just think of the limitless fabric possibilities!!! They feature beautifully carved Asian detailed backs and straight square legs with a wide and sturdy stance. The front legs have a slightly turned in foot, but no rounded hoof look so not quite the Ming style, but we might say a hint or bit of flair. They are definitely bursting with styles of Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, and Chinese Chippendale magnificence and are sure to be a favorite new addition to your home! They are too low for use at a standard dining table; however, if you have a low profile Asian Chabudai (Japanese short-legged table,) or a low-profile game table, these would be a perfect fit!! Otherwise, you could certainly use them as extra seating in your living or family room or split them up and use two in the corner of your bedroom and two in the sitting room or study across from your fireplace. They are very versatile, composed of solid frames, and they bear an unmatchable and timeless Thomasville reputation!! They are EXACTLY what the designer ordered! The original Thomasville furniture company was founded in 1904. At the time, it was called the Thomasville chair company since the company focused on producing chairs exclusively. Over the next few decades, the catalog expanded to include additional furniture pieces. During this time, the original company went through several owners; despite this, the company still experienced financial success even through economic hardship of the 1930s. Vintage pieces from the Thomasville Furniture company run the gamut from chairs to dining room furniture and many different types of furniture in between. The earliest pieces from the company, when it was still known as the Thomasville Chair Company, are considered the most rare and valuable. If you are looking for authentic Thomasville vintage pieces, you will need to find them on the secondhand market. Thomasville Furniture is one of the most recognized furniture companies in America. You can count on Thomasville furniture for incredible dining room and bedroom furniture. – vintage furniture...

Thomasville Embassy Asian Chinoiserie Dining Chairs
By Thomasville, Raymond K. Sobota, Century Furniture
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Set of six dining chairs by Thomasville, from the Embassy line, restored with integrity and style. Includes two arm-chairs and four side chairs. Design is distinctly Chinoiserie, with an Asian-inspired silhouette: the crown is pagoda-notched, the blade-like backs curve inward following the spine’s shape for ergonomic support. Frames are solid wood, original finish clean with only minor blemishes; seat cushions have been re-upholstered in a neutral blended fabric combining tones of gray, brown, black and white—modern yet complementary to the frame tones. Restoration has reinforced structural joints; the wood surfaces have been cleaned, polished, and detailed so the grain and contour shine. The overall presence is both elegant and bold—chairs that bring visual rhythm to a dining set, a media console, or curated furniture group. Only minor imperfections remain on frames. All chairs are sturdy. Suited for interiors that prize material authenticity, decorative nuance, and vintage pedigree. These chairs perform well around classic dining tables, or paired with wood, lacquer, or mirrored surfaces. Ideal for collectors and designers who value style lineage, tactile form, and pieces that carry both beauty and useability. Lovingly restored, set of six Nineteen-Laties Thomasville Embassy...
