About the Item

Rare variant of Chair No. 405 crafted for the Municipal House in Prague circa 1905. This exceptionally rare version of the Thonet No. 405 chair, designed by Josef Urban, adorned the Municipal House in Prague, former Czechoslovakia ( Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time ), upon its inauguration in 1912. Constructed from beech wood, it features a continuous leather-tacked back and a seat with a graceful L-shape, while its legs elegantly terminate in brass sabots. Preserved in its original condition, the chair exhibits visible signs of wear. Structurally sound.
