The chair is made of solid Italian walnut. Its ebonized finish is achieved with shellac applied by hand, creating a warm, glossy surface.
The seat is padded with a firm foam base and a soft top layer for comfort. It is upholstered in a corduroy-style velvet from Alessandro Bini. The fabric, shown in a warm coffee tone, creates a beautiful contrast with the dark wood frame.
Biedermeier was an early modern furniture style. It was the first style to use curved forms and lumbar support to prioritize comfort. Unlike earlier styles, it was named to reflect a new design culture, not royal courts. This forward-thinking design is why it still works well in modern interiors.
