About the Item
The Eclectica collection showcases a selection of Biedermeier-style chairs presented in a distinctive format. Here, the set includes 8 individually styled chairs, each combining wood dye and vibrant color velvet.
Crafted from fine solid Italian walnut, this version features two wood finish, a black walnut finish a and a lighter chestnut finish . The finish is than followed by hand-applied shellac using the traditional French polish technique, resulting in a smooth, glossy surface with a warm glow.
Each chair features a boxed seat, padded with a firm T35 foam base and a softer top layer for comfort. The seat is finished with neat piping and upholstered in a corduroy-style velvet from Alessandro Bini, matched with plain velvet in the same color for the piping. On this set I used saturated color of Bini's collectioin to give a joyful appearance to the set.
Ideal for a sumptuos maximalist interior or a casual colorful home, this would become the center of conversation.

The name itself carries meaning: unlike traditional styles named after royalty, Biedermeier was “not named after a king.” It was a nod to a shift in culture — a style embraced by the rising bourgeoisie rather than the aristocracy. Think of it as calling a chair "Mr. So-and-So" — deliberately signaling its origins in private homes rather than royal courts.
Where styles like Empire were made for palaces such as Versailles, Biedermeier emerged from personal residences and expressed a more individual, progressive way of life. This origin story helps explain why the style still resonates today — it's timeless in its practicality and modern in spirit, making it especially relevant in contemporary interiors.
