About the Item

Set of Six Dining chairs designed and produced by Kevin Kopil from his celebrated Floating World Collection. According to the maker, the inspiration for the Line is the furniture and architecture of the iconic American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as well as the Japanese theme of the “Floating World” the concept having to do with Japan's Edo period (1615–1868), The phrase "the floating world" (ukiyo) evoked an imagined universe of wit, stylishness, and extravagance—with overtones of naughtiness, hedonism, and transgression. Implicit was a contrast to the humdrum of everyday obligation. The set is meticulously crafted from solid Cherry with black faux leather seats, lightly Ebonized and angled Walnut back splats, legs that gently broaden towards the base, corner blocked seats, peg construction and great comfort. Signed. Dimensions: Arm Chair 23.75” wide by 23.5” wide by 42.25” high. seat height 18.5”. Arm height 27.25”. Side Chair 19.75” wide by 21” deep by 42.25” high. Seat height 18.5”. Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age include sporadic age and use related nicks and some light scratches to the frames and an impression to the seat of one arm chair, none of which detracts from the fine Arts and Crafts presentation.
