About the Item
A superb set of two genuine Chiavari dining chairs by Fratelli Levaggi, crafted in northern Italy circa the 1950s. Celebrated for their artful engineering, these chairs marry elegance, strength, and feather-light construction—hallmarks of the classic Chiavari form. Each chair retains its original handcrafted wooden frame, thoughtfully reinforced at the seat for added durability, and expertly reupholstered in a textured wool-tweed that’s elegantly tufted with antique leather buttons, beautifully complementing both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Drawing inspiration from the sleek silhouettes of Gio Ponti’s Wingback “Superleggera,” these authentic Levaggi pieces feature subtly tapered legs and a gently curved, open-spindle backrest that cradles the sitter in ergonomic comfort. The minimalist profile and fine joinery showcase the craftsmanship of mid-century Italian design.
