About the Item

These Model P80 dining chairs, designed by Giovanni Offredi and manufactured by Saporiti Italia in 1973, are a striking example of mid-century Italian design. The chairs feature cast steel polished feet, with a distinct, bold shape that adds a sculptural element to their overall appearance. The seats are designed like cozy cups, offering excellent comfort and enveloping support for those seated. Upholstered in their original red-orange suede, the fabric has developed a beautiful patina over time, adding character and enhancing their vintage appeal. Crafted with the exceptional quality that Saporiti Italia is renowned for, these chairs are not only visually appealing but also built to last. The metal feet come equipped with plastic floor protector*, a subtle yet practical design feature that preserves both the furniture and flooring. The chairs are signed at the bottom Saporiti Italia. This set of 4 chairs is a testament to Offredi’s masterful design and Saporiti’s commitment to superior craftsmanship, making them an elegant addition to any modern or contemporary dining space. Please note that the chairs are sold as a set of four. Giovanni Offredi (1927–2007) was an influential Italian designer known for his innovative approach to furniture and industrial design. His work is characterized by a blend of sleek modernism, elegant forms, and meticulous attention to detail. Offredi collaborated extensively with Saporiti Italia, creating iconic furniture pieces during the 1960s and 1970s, including the celebrated Onda sofa and P80 dining chairs. His designs often featured bold materials and sculptural shapes, reflecting a deep commitment to both aesthetics and functionality. Offredi’s contributions helped shape the Italian design landscape, and his work remains highly regarded by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide. As with all our upholstered pieces, these can be custom reupholstered to suit your preferences. Consult with our experienced upholstery department for a personalized quote on customizing the item of your choice. We can work with fabric you provide or order specific materials to meet your needs. Throughout the reupholstery process, we prioritize preserving the originality of the piece to ensure it retains its value and is ready for many more years of use.

Augusto Bozzi Ariston dining chairs Saporiti Italy 1954
By Augusto Bozzi, Saporiti
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Highly rare and beautiful set of 6 so called ‘Ariston’ dining chairs designed by Augusto Bozzi and manufactured by Saporiti, Italy 1954. These chairs have a pressed plywood seat which is finished with teak veneer at the front and back, the black painted metal wire frame supports the seats. The structure provides stability and also a nice contrast with the deep coloured plywood seats. The seats are only connected to the base with 2 screws which are decoratively worked away in the seat, but these details also support the aesthetics of the design. This style was popular in the 1950s. Bozzi was one of the designers who gained credits for his designs during that period, putting Saporiti on the map and becoming one of the big players...
