About the Item

Guillerme et Chambron “Charlotte” dining chair for Votre Maison, wood, France, 1966 The “Charlotte” oak chair showcases the distinctive craftsmanship of Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron for Votre Maison in 1966. Made from solid oak, the natural grain remains visible through a light transparent finish. The open-back design features a concave seat with rounded edges that fit seamlessly into the curved shoe of the backrest. The front and rear stretchers are rectangular, while the side spindles soften the structure, reflecting the organic form of the seat. The rear legs, crafted from cylindrical oak, taper elegantly into saber feet, emphasizing the chair's stability and refined aesthetic. The chair is armless, allowing for flexibility in various interior settings. A removable fabric cushion provides additional comfort. Guillerme and Chambron, working from their workshop in Lille, France, became known for their unique approach to furniture design. Their collaboration with Émile Dariosecq in 1949 established the Votre Maison company, focusing on original, functional pieces for everyday life. Guillerme’s architectural background informed his design philosophy, favoring durable, high-quality materials like oak, leather, and ceramics. This chair reflects the harmony and balance that defined their work, blending simplicity with craftsmanship to create timeless, practical furniture. We accurately check the quality of every object. Our atelier restored and reupholstered the item. We offer custom restoration and special reupholstering on request. Contact us for additional information.
